Tai Chi & Qigong on Mount Sequoyah
Root, Restore & Renew

Winter Series | November 10th- December 15th

The Water Element • Turtle Qigong • A 6-Week Winter Practice

Live at Sequoyah Hall & the Mount Sequoyah Overlook

Fayetteville, AR

Tuesdays: 6:00–7:30 PM

What if winter isn't asking you to do more?

Instead, it's asking you to slow down enough to hear what your body is telling you.

What's possible if you gave yourself six weeks to reconnect with the deep wisdom of your body?

By the time November arrives, many of us are carrying a lot. The pace of the year has been full. Our bodies may be tired. Our minds may be overstimulated. And the world around us can feel uncertain and demanding.

Winter Qigong offers another way to live... attuned with the flow of nature.

In the natural world, life turns inward, slows down, and becomes quieter. The trees release their leaves. The days grow shorter and colder. Seeds rest beneath the soil. What is visible becomes quiet and more still,  while something essential is being conserved beneath the surface.

Winter is not a season of doing nothing.

It is a season of deep restoration and stillness.

This six-week Tai Chi & Qigong series invites you to work with that wisdom.

We will explore the Water element and the Turtle form from the Wudang Five Animal Qigong tradition, using slow, flowing movement, breath, meditation, and mindful attention to cultivate a deeper relationship with the body and the quieter qualities of winter.

Join us at Mount Sequoyah for six weeks of gentle, flowing movement inspired by the ancient practices of Tai Chi and Qigong in a welcoming and supportive community.

Designed for beginners and rewarding for continuing students.

Tai Chi doesn't give you balance. It teaches you how to cultivate balance.

It doesn't promise to fix everything in six weeks.

Instead, you'll learn movements, breathing practices, and principles you can take with you long after the series ends.

This Session:
The Wisdom of the Turtle

In traditional Wudang Five Animal Qigong, the Turtle is associated with the Water element and the Kidney system.

In this practice, the Turtle teaches us how to gather our energy as we dig for the medicine roots, going beneath the surface to find what nourishes and sustains us.

This is the medicine of winter: turning inward, listening deeply, and reconnecting with what lies beneath the busy surface of our lives.

The Turtle also swims through the ocean of life. It doesn't need to fight every obstacle in its path. It learns to move with the water, redirecting around what it encounters while continuing steadily toward its destination.

And then, having gathered and cultivated its medicine, the Turtle comes out of its shell.

It shares what it has cultivated.

It speaks. It offers. It brings its medicine into the world. And then it returns home. Back to its origins. Back to its center. Back to the shelter of the shell.

This becomes an important part of our winter practice: learning how to strengthen our own energetic home.

A strong back. A protected center. A place within ourselves where our energy can gather, rest, and be renewed.

Sometimes the most important work happens beneath the surface. And sometimes, going inward is exactly how we prepare ourselves to emerge again.

Location & Setting

There is something quietly meaningful about teaching here. This place holds a personal vision I’ve carried for years. My son’s name is Sequoyah, and for as long as I’ve practiced Qigong and Tai Chi in Fayetteville, I’ve dreamed of offering this work in this space.

Now that dream is a reality!
