  • What is Qigong?
Qigong is pronounced (Chee Gong). Qi means "life force energy," and Gong means "work." Qigong can be translated as "skillful energy work" that cultivates life force energy. There are thousands of styles of Qigong. So I can only speak in broad terms. Think of Qigong as a moving meditation. It is a mind-body excise that helps align your breath, body movement, and mindful awareness to strengthen and cultivate personal energy for healing and meditation. Five Element Qigong practice consists of: Breathing techniques Stretches Qigong flows Standing postures Key acupressure points Healing sounds and colors
  • What is Qi?
Qi is the life force energy found throughout the universe. Qi is often compared to water and electricity. This is because they both flow with a current. In our bodies, just like how blood carries oxygen and nutrients to every cell in our bodies. Our blood also circulates our Qi. Just as our central nervous system sends impulses and messages to every cell in our body, it also sends qi.
  • I've never done Qigong before what should I expect?
Qigong is a meditative practice suitable for all body types, ages, and fitness levels and is gentle enough for those with physical limitations or health issues. Qigong is a practice of gentle, flowing movements, breathwork, and mindfulness that harmonizes the body, mind, and spirit. It offers a pathway to vitality, clarity, and balance, connecting us with the natural rhythms of life and the energy that flows through all things. Each movement is an invitation to release tension, recharge your energy, and embody a deep sense of peace. Each session is unique, generally speaking, we will start with a short grounding mediation to "empty our cup" so we can be open and receptive to the practice. This is a stationary standing practice that can be modified to a seated practice. We practice for about an hour.
  • Do I have to attend all four classes?
No, not at all! This series is designed to be flexible and welcoming. You're invited to join in whatever way works best for you—whether that’s one session or all four. Each class is part of a flowing series, with themes that build on one another, but every session also stands alone as a complete and nourishing experience.
  • What should I bring?
Bring a water bottle! And if you'd like, a friend or two to share the experience. Most importantly, come with an open heart and mind. Since this is an outdoor class in the summer heat, please dress comfortably and plan accordingly. We’ll be standing and gently moving for about an hour, and there is a short walk required to get to the Lower Ramble.
  • What should I wear?
There is no special equipment or clothing requirements. Wear anything that feels comfortable for you to move around in. Consider wearing layers, you may warm up and cool down before, during and after the practice. Wear comfortable walking shoes to navigate the trail, and feel free to go barefoot during class if that feels grounding for you. There are a few benches and large rocks to sit on, but if you know you’ll need to sit down during the practice, please bring a folding chair to ensure your comfort.
  • Inclement Weather Plan
If it is actively raining, we will cancel class. If it is not actively raining the class will continue as scheduled.
  • Prepare for the Heat
It can be extremely hot this time of year so please plan accordingly. Bring water with you.
